A Guide To The Silence Of The Irish Other World (Paperback) Customer review : If you are looking for a straightforward travel guide with advice on where to visit and where to stay this isn't the book for you. If you are interested in enhancing your understanding of culture and history, legend, language, sense of place and place names and spirituality in the north of Ireland then you will find this book fascinating as it takes you on a soulful journey that provides reference points and context to many of the places of interest and landmarks. The book encourages the reader to veer off the beaten track and to experience the places visited. There is discussion from the author's viewpoint about the political history and present day issues which are met head on and may not be palatable to everyone, however the author argues that facing these issues and promoting dialogue about them can only contribute to the peace process. I enjoyed this book immensely.
